Worth its weight in gold.

Two and a half thousand years ago the Mayans discovered the cacao tree. Or as legend has it, stole it from the gods and brought it to earth on a golden ray of sunshine. The tree’s pods housed a delicious secret. The cacao bean. The very essence of smooth, rich, dark chocolate. The discovery swept through their civilization and was soon consumed in all facets of life. From rituals to celebrations alike. At weddings it held the same place as champagne does today. Whilst at funerals up to a dozen golden goblets would be placed in burial chambers to be taken into the afterlife.

As the chocolate’s smoothness was refined and its reputation grew, so did its worth. It soon became so valuable that the cacao bean replaced their sacred gold as the principle source of currency. It’s from these origins that Cadbury Old Gold was born. Smooth, rich, dark chocolate that’s worth its weight in gold.
